I'm in need of help ASAP.

Is there a free, downloadable video editor that I can use to cut and splice video clips?

My daughter's video has to be turned in tomorrow.  I went to use my editing software and neither will work.  I have SONY Vegas 5.0 and The Panasonic software that came with the camera.

The camera software won't run on a 64 bit machine.  No, they have no 64 bit software upgrade, the camera is too old to bother (2004).

The Vegas 5.0 software needs to be registered for use on this newer machine but the online registration tool says mine is not not a valid serial number.  <-- This could also be a 64 bit incompatibility.

You might be able to download a trial of Adobe Premiere Pro:

Microsoft must have funded, and then forgotten to meddle with, the group that made this.  It's quite good for what it claims to be. (Tool for armatures to get decent stuff up on Youtube.)

It will take a couple long downloads and reboots for patches and installs and MS "Live" crap (be sure to do the custom install or you will end up with a crapton of stuff you don't want or need running on the computer).  But, it's free.  And has no nag-ware, ads, watermarks, or risks to the computer in it.

In the end, I used Windows Live Movie Maker.  It was simple to download and install.  Learning to use it successfully took about 2 minutes.

The Adobe Premiere Pro product was too convoluted to even get the download.  The have a monthly subscription charge, now free trial,...  It was embedded in a bundle of products.  You cannot get just Premiere Pro.   It was ridiculous.  I just walked away (clicked away is probably more accurate).
