I have a pc where the motherboard has failed.  I'm attempting to save my info from the drive.  I am unable to access the desktop of that HD while running it externally.  Any ideas as to how I can save my info?  Thanks in advance.

you mean you can't acccess the whole user folder or JUST the desktop ?

I can't remember at the moment if I accessed the desktop through the user folder or just tried to access the desktop.  I believe in XP you cannot access the desktop.  I'll get back to the thread asap.

Sometimes they are marked as having permissions or being private. You should be able to take ownership of the drive if you have Pro, not sure if Home allows you to do it.
