Thinking about adding another piece of equipment. I already have the leg curl / extension and squat rack. Wanted something for legs that really worked them (safely). At some point I want to get a power rack or smith machine but just don't have the room right now.
Thoughts? |

You don't have a real gym without a Glute Ham Raise Bench or Reverse Hyper.
Shop at www.elitefts.com Get these before that other stuff. In fact, sell your leg extension/curl setup to make sure you have enough room for these. |

Maybe I'm confused, but you want to get a leg press machine because you're not getting enough legs from your squat rack? Wut? I must be misunderstanding something...
Don't bother with a smith machine. There are VERY few uses for one and if you try to use for squats it forces the body to move unnaturally and isn't good for you. |

Didn't say not getting enough with squats. I was thinking the hack squat would be just another good excercise that I could do safely because you could lock up the weight. Not to mention, calf raises. I'm not interested in seeing how much I can lift. |

I say go for it.
Anyone who gives you shit is a moron, leg presses are very crucial to good leg development. You can hit so many angles on them, toes in, toes out, narrow, wide, high, low, my legs really started exploding once I learned the angles they like and hammered them. |

I've also seen photos of eastern bloc olyimpic gyms with their own crude variations. You won't see them in regular globo-gyms because the movements are hard to do and most people don't like doing the hard stuff. |
