Seems the Quipall Inverter 2200 watt gennies have dropped in price. They were routinely around $450 on eBay. Down to $319 shipped now.

I picked up a Workzone 2kw inverter generator at my local Aldi for 199 today.

Does anyone know if this dipstick will work on mine?  I know this generator is rebranded all over the place.

Never mind. Looks like it should work according to last page.

Anything wrong with shutting the generator down by turning off the fuel cap vent?  Would like to store with the carb empty if possible.

did you mean fuel On-Off valve? (that's the one you want to turn off vs anything on the cap)

It'd probably take a really long time to build up a vacuum to starve the carb.

Depending on the generator, you might be able to fiddle with the run switch to cut off the fuel flow right before it shuts the generator off or there may be a drain screw on the bowl.

I haven't looked closely yet but I don't think it has one.   The cap has a closable vent to prevent (i think) gas fumes in its storage area.

I can install a petcock later if it doesn't have one.  Ran it a few hours today while prepping my old car for sale.  Used it to power my shop vac and air compressor.  I went inside to warm up and get some coffee after switching on the compressor.  Came back out and the overload light was on.  Label on compressor claims 10A, so it should be ok.  Shut off and restarted generator, turned on ac and was unable to replicate the problem.

Does anyone know if Aldi lists these gennies in there weekly adds when they go on sale?

I saw a bunch of them, but they are a bit out of the way for me, but I'd hate to miss it if they mark them way down.

Went to buy one today and was told "the coupons don't stack." I could have 15 percent off or the $430 price.

I opted for neither, put it back and left.

Oh well. More money for ammo.

I may get laughed out of the budget thread but NorthernTool has the double gift card deal going on now, with a lot of generators already on sale + effectively 20% off (via e-gift card) + free shipping. I fent.

Whoops. Home Depot. It was a Black Friday deal but some stores are still selling for $349.
Online listed for $399

Thanks. That $399 appears to be a regular price, but free delivery makes it not a bad price. Doesn't appear to be quite as nice as the similar unit that is $499, but looks like it would get the job done.

Nah, I really don’t need it, I need to save up for a transfer switch of some sort.

Not its final resting place (Ill build a gen house in the alcove directly behind where this picture was taken), but it has performed admirably all day with the transfer switch I wired in.

Has anyone ever tried or seen tried an extended 'exhaust pipe' on a small generator?

Basically what I want to do is use my generator with my camper, but position it under the tent that attaches to the entry side of the camper. Exhaust is the problem with this, but if I could attach some type of metallic flex tube to the exhaust and run it out under the camper to the rear.

I gotta wonder why.  That sounds like a really bad idea.
Just remote the genset.

There are apparently kits on eBay for this sort of thing. It would have to seal up well around the exhaust pipe, and if it can achieve that, then why not?

I understand the caution, though. Dat exhaust is bad. Definitely best to avoid it. Problem is if I have the tent attached to my camper, and I want power, but there's a thunderstorm incoming and I'm boondocking, I'm fucked.

I could slap the generator up in my truck bed, since I have a topper on it, but that depends on my truck being/staying close by. The tent attached to the camper won't move.

I've been thinking about a two level little cart type thing, because I did get one of those 6.5 gallon external tanks. I may look at something like that and just throw a tarp over it like a little A frame type tent. We'll see.

I would love to do that with my Champion 3100 (75531i) but the magic that makes it happen, a fuel pump, like what the Honda 2k has, is not present in the Champ.

There is a fuel cap for the Predator series, and probably the Champion too.
The Predator version was discussed earlier in the thread several pages back.

The external tank will work if the tank is higher than the generator so it can gravity feed.

L O L  at the PowerFist review!

fyi there's an ebay code of PERFECTGAME for fleabay atm (good for sporting goods only), but the code doesn't work for generators. Otherwise I'd hop on a Pulsar today.

Power just went out.
A tree from the north of across the road came down on the line.

I calmly got up.
Went to the shop.
Fired up one of the Hondas.
Plugged the cord into the exterior inlet.
Went in the garage and threw the interlock, killed all the breakers.
Plugged the cord into the Benny.
Turned on a few breakers, then went back to my couch and picked up my bourbon and took a sip.

A minor 5 minute inconvenience.

TV, internet, some lights, fireplace insert fan, fridge.
