One of the towers at work is acting up (Windows 98, older machine). I had been setting up a proxy server/firewall on an unused Linux box, and I borrowed its monitor and keyboard to configure it. After I had configured it, I reattached the keyboard and monitor. When I hit the power button on the office tower, the monitor would activate but with a black screen and an orange (as opposed to green) light as if the machine was off. I also noticed the keyboard's number, caps, and scroll lock would not light up. (The machine's optical mouse does illuminate.) I moved the monitor back to the server, and it still works. (Did not try that with the keyboard, but another keyboard from the office did not work as well.) I turned the machine off and on a bunch of times, and I wonder if I didn't fry the motherboard or processor. Didn't move it around too much, but I have yet to check if the fan is out of alignment or anything like that. Any one have any ideas? Been one of those days. |
