I have a 5" 5.56 barrel that I'll definitely never shoot again, a 22 CMMG conversion, and a pistol scope from back when I thought a Mosin could be a hunting rifle... Now that I think of it I can mock it up the whole gun essentially with parts I have on hand, except for the lower back plate that replaces the buffer tube. | Yes the Mauser C96 is the true original platform, but they are too expensive now (even in poor condition) to contemplate tearing one up for a DL-44 replica. Maybe when the original imports of them were in the $150 range it might have been worth it, but not now when the are pushing $800- 1K. The 22 replica would be a good compromise, just get a shorter 10 round magazine and that would work nicely. |

Seen it at a couple shops here. Me personally, I would go with a movie accurate DL-44. There's an eBay shop that makes a nice, all metal replica of the DL-44 in several versions, like the DL-44 "Greedo Killer", thje "Hoth" model with the tank scope on it and the one Luke used in The Empire Strikes Back. https://ebay.us/m/Ma993K I'm sure none of us would butcher an original, just to turn it into a live firing replica... Decided to swap out the Hoffman for an Atrius with a Rave 140, after dry firing for a while. The slop between the lever and the cam shaft doesn't inspire confidence with how short the recoil stroke is. I love that crisp, short reset of the Rave. Hoffmans are wonderful, especially for getting people into FRTs, but in my opinion they're suboptimal for 22. I don't want to have to shim things for timing. |

I'm struggling to get my gun running. The tracers I bought don't seem to have enough balls to cycle the action all the way. It does eject and load a new round, but it doesn't cock the hammer. Does the barrel length of a 22 blowback have an effect on the impulse imparted to the bolt? |
