that that of Robert Johnson?

King of the delta blues, one of the top fighter aces of WWII, founded Black Entertainment Television, got that whole Foundation thing going on...

I was impressed with the Asian dude who became a SEAL and then a doctor.  I’d say that’s accomplishing quite a bit.

I admittedly know nothing about the man you highlighted OP

bet? you can't be serious. i watched the series "the men that built america, the food that made america" etc, and i don't remember anything about "bet" being mentioned. has there ever been a more accomplished life? the men who created electricity, air travel, space travel, communications, the internet, modern medicine and the people who made it happen probably rank a bit higher in the list of accomplished lives, than the guy that made bet. i could be wrong though as i have honestly never watched a single thing on, or by bet.

Well, I figured out that if your ice cream at home is really really frozen solid; you should use a fork instead of a spoon to eat it.

I mean…. That’s gotta count for something. Right?

That’s a pretty significant accomplishment, I think

Wanna see an accomplished life? Be a good husband and father and raise children to be good spouses and parents. Make sure they have the tools to teach their children the same to the best of your abilities. Teach them to be good to people, be accountable for their behavior, and that socialism and communism never work and you’ll have effects you couldn’t imagine.

Sensible chuckle.  That was the name of an asshole HS English teacher of mine too, FWIW.

(I don't remember that part of "Thunderbolt!" where Johnson starts by telling us that he was born a poor black child.)

But I would note shortly after electing Trump with no military or political office experience, we elected (possibly) a moron….an idiot..an imbecile…take your choice

Funny you say it that way, because I remembered it to have an exclamation point too, but went searching for it on YT once and there was no exclamation point.  Mandela effect thing I guess.  Absolutely required viewing though IMO.

I could've sworn the Martin Caider (Calder?) written biography had it.  I'll have to check.

Had no idea there was a YouTube video too.

Probably a better version without the PeriscopeFilms digitalia:

ETA:  The regular version has an intro by Jimmy Stewart

"THUNDERBOLT" WWII AIR COMBAT DOCUMENTARY ITALIAN CAMPAIGN 12th AIR FORCE COLOR VERSION 21130

Don't know the relationship (if any) between the doc and the book.

I’m not sure what the joke is, but Robert Johnson the Blues player was born and died from being poisoned in Mississippi in 1938, and Robert Johnson the P-47 ace was born and died in OK…

John Jacob Astor killed it. From a tanner in Germany to a billionaire in our money today, with a real estate empire in New York City and an international trading network.  He founded a town on the west coast ahead of the government.

And he figured all this out before there was a stable government, banking system, or internet.

He was an interesting person, but didn't really have any lasting achievements. The Treaty of Versailles basically dismantled everything he did.
