encountered someone who is clearly in the wrong, but when you point it out to him or her, will try to twist the situation around to make themselves look right, and you look wrong. This is one of many psychological tactics people use. Another tactic is when someone talks down to you constantly hoping they will eventually tear you down and make you believe they are right after all. Another tactic is simple denial and deflection with a counter accusation on your sanity. "What are you talking about? You're CRAZY!" |
I knew you would! I didn't like the "liberties" that they took with Saruman though |
I must admit, his death was a bit disturbing... I kind of felt bad for Grima at that scene...but then again, not really! hehe
|
The most memorable part of the book was the return of the Hobbits, only to have to fact their own War. And how Frodo sacrificed himself, knowing he would never live to enjoy what he had fought for. |
Must agree...though most anything in the book with Pippin I remember...hehe. They should've added the Scouring of the Shire...oh well, there was probably good reason it wasn't in the movie...Though I wish I knew the reason. You should listen to the audio commentary by the cast. Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan are hilarious on it, as they always are on the commentaries. |
Sacrificing self for beliefs, and knowing you will never see the results of your sacrifice. |
Have you read the books? |
Yeah I do like Frodo's line during the Grey Havens scene "We set out to save the Shire, Sam. And it has been saved, but not for me." It kind of...has that message you just said in it.
|
I have yet to read Fellowship of the Ring. I listened to the unabridged version of The Two Towers on cd (the one you leant my dad infact) and I read The Return of the King and did a book report on it in the fifth grade. I've reread some of it. I LOVED it. I've read the Hobbit multiple times, and have yet to get through The Silmarillion--that is a tough book. |
It is about sacrifice. Frodo knew that he would never "survive" It was not meant for him, but for others. The Elves knew that they they could not exist, if they followed this course of action. |
It is hard for me too. I hope Peter Jackson makes it in to a movie |
Hehe Peter Jackson needs to make The Hobbit and The Silmarillion into a movie...then slowly work his way through all Middle Earth related Tolkien books |
Wait, clean_cut actually had a point on this thread?
|
He's not necessarily done with Tolkien. He's working on King Kong because that is the movie that inspired him to become a director. He may do The Hobbit. In the words of YOU, trust me. |
He will cash in on the "Hobbit" phenominon. I know that is spelled incorrectly, I just don't care. Hobbit will be next, and he will make millions. Probably 3 years. Then I HOPE he tackles The Silmarillian. That is one tough read |
+1! |
LOST will be on Wednesday at 8pm on ABC. Did you see both of Wednesday's episodes? the Pilot part I and II I liked part II best |
I wanted to see the next episode! I left off where the FBI agent woke up and let some of the survivors know who the prisoner was. Was that the last episode? |
Hehe, yes, that was the last episode. The next episode is a Kate-centric episode. We see more of the marshall and the 'she's dangerous...don't trust her' things. The next episode will be called Tabula Rasa. |
When is that on, and will you remind me |
That is on this Wednesday at 8pm on ABC. I will call you and remind you before it starts |
