Having severe withdrawal after getting rid of the 04 Cobra. Had it modded pretty heavily. Fuel system, injectors, MAF, Whipple supercharger. Literally 680hp at the wheels.

Contemplating building a 93 Notchback, much lighter, bigger 331 engine this time. Any other Notchback owners on here?

Possible new build:

I have had severe withdrawal from my turbo Mustang.

I am going to have to get another sometime down the road.

NO!

Dude, I am mainly a Import guy but that Stang is literally one of the fucking tightest pieces IMO when it

comes to Domestics!!!!!  I can understand wanting to go to a lighter model, but you can't beat the looks

of the Cobra!  Stick with it!

Never understood the appeal of the Mustang or a 600 hp street legal car. Can't drive it w/o getting taken to jail. I would go with something European that came set up, rides nice and looks good.

You just havn't felt the power of a cobra with a nice Kenne Bell or Whipple swap

On a side note, you either need to go wider on the rear rims or run a lower offset to fill that fender well!  This will

make it hella cock!

No, he hasn't!  It really is a different type of acceleration!

Just bought my 93 about 3 weeks ago. I really like the older Fox body style. This is my 3rd GT I have owned, and I will never get rid of this one. They are getting harder to find.

I hate Fords, but the blown Cobras are serious pieces of equipment. I drive a GTO and know I'll regret selling it, so I never will.

Fox bodies take a decent amount of suspension work if you plan on spending much time over 100 IIRC.  Nothing too radical, they just tend to be all over the place without some some bracing and upgrading.  That said, there is a shit load of goodies for them, and they're not that expensive in the scheme of things.

HELL NO.

Those fox-body Mustangs suck balls for aesthetics.

The look like Escorts with ground effects and spoilers.  The older and newer body styles are much better.  How Ford went with such a boring body style for so long is beyond reason.

Not to mention kick outs at undesirable times and speeds.

And I don't understand why anyone would want to drive a "me too" car from Japan or Europe. One journalist said, while driving an LS6 Chevelle (454"/450hp/500tq factory rating) said "Driving (one) is like being the guy who's in charge of triggering atom bomb tests. You have the power, you know you have the power, and you know that if you use that power, bad things may happen." I have a 650 hp N/A Chevelle, over 775 on N20. I have been driving it on the street for the past 6 years. Not even pulled over. It all depends on the driver

I thought that too. I am currently in the process of building a real Cobra (). Hopefully it will soon look like this:

But it's currently a rolling chassis. But it will be a Franken-build because we wanted it to be fast, so we put a Chevy big block in it

Very sick car OP. I've always wanted a Mustang Cobra, and yours looks very sweet. Any track times?

I had one. Never should have sold it one of the funnest cars i have owned.

2800 pounds with me in it and a full interior.

Been thinking of finding another and building a 347 w TKO like the old renegade days.

Crishel Those mustangs from the eighties HAVE to be one of the ugliest ever made. My 14 year old son saw one for the first time the other day and looked at me like this and said that's a Mustang? Ha ha. I had forgotten how ugly they were. But to each his own I guess.

No sir, never took it. I had a friend named Chris Johnson tune it, he runs a company called superchips custom tuning. That and he gave me some prototype parts (hitachi MAF) that were not even released to the public yet (I am assuming its because he runs a division of superchips and had access to test equipment). That MAF was huge.
To those of us who own American muscle, in the 500+ range (then again, in the proper power to weight ratio), you can't really describe it. That whipple sounded like a dental drill when you punched it. 90+ mph, down into 3rd and stand on it, was quite quite frightening.

Get you a fox body LX coupe, drop in a 347 or 408 stroker with twin turbos on that bitch.....

Saw a TT 347 stroker coupe run a 9.55 @ 144 in the street legal class with Nitto drag radials at Fun Ford Weekend here in Ennis a few years back. Car looked like your average grocery getter.

Not a bad friend to have. Does he have a brother that works on Chevy's

Yea, that feeling of power is truly indescribable. It's the torque that gets me, not the HP. Something you don't get with any small displacement import. I always go back to the "$20 on the dash" argument. Still have yet to be proved wrong when I can get it to hook. And I love the sound of the whipples

Ya know, it's all relative. Once you drive a true race car, street cars are generally too slow, handle poorly and have crappy brakes.

I drove an McLaren M6b (a road race car) years ago. It had 600+ HP and weighed in at about 1600 pounds. It rode on 17 inch wide slicks and had powerful brakes. The owner mentioned it would run a 10 second 1/4 mile. Yet, it was no drag car. It was geared for 230MPH top speed. And, it was designed to have the shit beaten out of it for hours on end. Truly an awe inspiring drive. Makes street cars like Mustangs seem "not worth the effort" to me.

That's what happens when you compare a $150k-200k car to a $10k-$30k car.

Not after the aesthetics at all. The ideal scenario would be a 331 T72 Turbocharged Foxbody. I've heard the 373 vs 331 arguements. With a Bo, I will go to the 331 side. Caged of course, and all the appropriate cutoffs and protections that go with it (rear, brakes, etc).
10 second car? Ah, yeah, in its sleep.

As far as supercars, meet Joe Gullet, he's here in my town, many of us know him. He's had many mustangs. You may want to look at this video (full production video, insane car, HIGH resolution video): http://www.turbofordgt.com/imvttgt.wmv

Oh baby.

'04 Cobra, the exact same car that's on my list next for purchase.

My uncle ran an 89, 90, and 91 GT for a while. They were quick––especially the rag tops. They are pretty damn light.  My dad has a '94 GT that's waiting to die (270k mi, original everything) and get a 338 swapped in, or maybe a 351.

Iron block.  He can turbo it when he gets bored with 650 hp...  Mast has a 700 hp NA engine too.

I would go with the old LX myself....  The availability of aftermarket is sick to say the least.  I had built a few years back a 4banger LX (92) with a new world 338 block and a ATI blower.  Swapped the IRS out of a 97 T-bird along with some AC coilovers in the front.  It was the scariest little car I've ever ran.  I've always been big into blowers but recently started toying with turbos....  Want to do something fun get the notch back and play with a turbo or two it's a whole different beast.  Also if you go with the LX check out MegaSquirt ECM's they will run just about anything and tuning is a breeze even if you've never tuned before.
