Overall, meh.
Their hot dogs are pretty good but cost more than I'm willing to pay. |
|
I have been to both of the Five Guys in my AO (never been to any other ones). I would rate them very good to excellent for burgers and very good for their fries. Wife and I both love going there for the rare treat.
|

Their food is good for a fast food restaurant, better than Whataburger or IN-n-Out but it is pricey. The service seems to be excellent though and I always appreciate the free peanuts.

lol @ all the burger connoisseurs. Tell them to leave your fries in an extra minute to crisp them up, they're 87% better that way. When we first moved to Kansas there was a privately owned/operated place called Fat Bob's. Some of the best damn burgers I ever had, and an order of fries would feed a family of 4 (literally), all very reasonably priced. Damn I miss that place. |

I like eating there. It's a little more expensive than some of the other places around me.

5 Guys is good but definitely expensive, I prefer Culver's. In-N-Out is the worst. View Quote Right on. IN-N-out is the most overrated crap. I mean the store is clean, it comes out fast and is cheap, but the burgers are SMALL. It tastes like your eating a meat flavored salad. Heard amazing things about them but then went there and shrug. Wendy's has better burgers. Culver's is really good too. You are going to laugh, but my favorite burgers are Hardees thickburgers. Better than 5 guys or Culvers IMO. |

They are still pretty big. You also don't need a giant Milkshake. Comes out around $12 for a burger, fries and soda that will fill you up. Not to mention you don't have to sit down and wait/tip. Or just go to Mcdees and get you 10 mcdoubles, a large fry and a large coke. |

A lot of people in this thread are comparing a fast food chain restaurant to homemade burgers, privately owned mom & pop fast food restaurants, or sit down restaurants.
To actually rate Five Guys you have to look at their competition like In-N-Out which is it's main competitor. |

Five Guys large fries is literally a serving portion for 3-4. My wife and I share a regular size and even then it is a lot. I see these hamburger chains pop up in my locale.
I do a little research to see where they are from. I see all of the awards that a place like 5 Guys Burger & Fries has won. I think to myself that there really must be terrible burgers where 5 Guys has won awards. There burgers are good but not the best I have ever had. Local chains in my area are just as good. 5 Guys' burgers do taste like Wendy's. If you like your fries cut fresh and fried. You will like the fries. The fries tend to steam and soften in the bag if you get them to go. They are good fries and to me that is what probably sets 5 Guys apart. But you have to order fries only if you are eating in the store. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I cherry picked the Whataburger pic (I'm an asshole), but it's not far off the mark. They're no different than what the other national chains will sell you. This is a Triple Meat, extra cheese, bacon and jalapeno: Come on guys, this is bullshit. Look at that pathetic looking thing. The only people who ever rave about Whataburger seem to be from Texas, and I swear to God the only reason they love the place is because...well, Texas. They're just rooting for the home team. And that's fine by me, but call it what it is. |

If you lay off the sautéed onions and sautéed mushrooms, their hamburgers are not too greasy.
Also get the regular fries, not the Cajun fries, because those are way too salty. |
