I work at Lowe's, and I had to take tests to certify me in Hazmat training and advanced Hazmat training. Most of this is how to clean up spills properly, order MSDS, etc.
Though I've never tried, I've heard that in order to ship ammunition, you must be Hazmat certified.

Does my certification extend out of my work? I don't know the process of standard certification. Basically, can I legally ship ammunition/perform other tasks that require Hazmat certification?

Different training.  The training you took was to satisy OSHA requirements.

In order to ship hazardous materials, you must be certified under the DOT regulations (49 CFR).

That makes sense. I figured I wouldn't be able to, but that explains it better than I could. Thanks!
