There was a restaurant there that was down a small road. It was right on the water and the food was amazing. Hold my H Bomb if you find it.

There is no bench.  It was a movie prop that was placed at the edge of the road on the north side of Chippewa Square.  You can go see the place where the bench was during filming though.  Just go to the north side of Chippewa Square.

We ate at Pier 16 and Sting Rays when were there.  Both were good.  Pier 16 was the more dress a little nicer type place.

We got drunk, walked the beach at night, got lost and ended up wandering around until we found signs that said “danger venomous snake nesting area”. Then my wife ran like hell.

Ft Polaski is pretty neat.

Haven’t been to Tybee Island since 1986 so I can’t help you there.

Pirates House restaurant just for the history

Vinny Van Go-go’s at City Market for some pizza

Wet Willie’s on River Street for some frozen drinks

Do a ghost tour since it’s near Halloween

As for restaurants, the Little Duck diner has great breakfast and
I had some fantastic Kumamoto oysters at Sorry Charlie’s. Both are in Savannah.

Crab Shack, Sting Rays, AJ's Dockside are all good places to eat. Afternoon drink after walking on the beach, North Beach Grill across from the lighthouse. In Savannah on River Street, I like Hughey's and their shrimp and grits.

The Crab Shack is a great place for dinner. Stingray's is more of a place to grab lunch near the beach.

Fort Pulaski is a neat way to spend half a day or so.

The wife's family used to have a place on the south end of the island near the beach and it was a pretty cool place to go. I doubt we ever go back since they sold the house.

As a (formally) young enlisted aircrewman stationed at Hunter, I can confirm that the black helicopters are real and they are watching you…

I can also confirm that ordering hot wings at a Tybee bar at 1am labeled with a Scoville rating of “Someone said something bad about the cook’s mama” hot, is a bad idea.
High levels of drunkenness has blocked the name of the bar from my memory.

I'm actually headed there, be there on Friday.

Huckapoos for Pizza. Best and cheapest lunch in town.

For seafood I like AJ's This is where to see the sunset.

Spanky's for spuds and chicken fingers, get the hot honey dip!

Also if you want beachfront dining, the Deck.

Do Fort Pulaski

Go into Savanah for lunch, go early and get in line at Momma Wilks, all you can eat death by your grandma's southern food!

If you are going into Savannah, there are more good restaurants then not. The Pirate House, Pink House (the basement bar is my favorite bar on earth), Vics on the River, Crystal Beer Parlor, Elizabeth's on 37th, the list goes on and on...

Last time I was on Tybee, taking the golf cart taxi home late one night, we overheard some locals chatting about pending legislation, ordinances, or something.. the gist was that indoor smoking was going to be banned, to which one of the other taxi riders yelled, verbatim, "if they take away our smoking, we will secede from the South!" which garnered many cheers, and then discussion began on how best to destroy the bridge. We were entertained.

Bubba Gumbo's just off the island was the best food we had the whole time there. And we went to EVERY restaurant on the island. Did Bubba's like 2 or 3 times, they were that good.

Also hang out more on the north side, it gets less rowdy

Not to eat,but Captain Stan's Marshlands Adventures is worth a half day trip. You can fish,or have dolphins stick their heads inside the boat (careful, they may bite) or go to an off island and pick up big ass shells. Also go see the gators in the rice canals.ETA: He leaves from the Crab Shack restaurant dock.

Huc a poos has great pizza and live music.

Tybee Post theater has a concert going on tomorrow with some local bands that are fantastic.

Sting Rays is great, Crab Shack is great, but don't go within an hour of closing. They only have boiled seafood. Get the sampler platter. It has everything.

Breakfast Club usually has a line out in front of it every morning.

AJ's is cool. Stop by the Lighthouse on north beach and go eat at north beach bar and grill.

There's a newer place that opened in 2020 called Sea Wolf. Has the best gourmet hot dogs. It's unsuspecting, but it's really good.

Back River Brewery has good food, but the beers are just OK. Only one or two I like.

I just got back from spending 10 days on Tybee. My son has a place near the lighthouse that we go to every year.

Huck-A-Poos for football, pizza, salads and beer and pocket friendly establishment.
Bubba Gumbos for the best meal IMO on the Island.
Crab Shack has good food and great atmosphere.
A Jays Dockside has great food but you need a reservation.
Back River Brewery the beer is just okay but the food is always good.
Chamacos for good street tacos
Treylor Park, we didn't go but like the Savannah locations
Rent a bike
Visit Fort Pulaski
We spend a lot of time at the beach.

ETA: Bubba Gumbos has an excellent scallop dish

Awwww, man.  I am jealous.  I lived in Savannah as a kid from 74 to 80.  I was ten years old when we moved to MO.  I still hold a grudge against my folks for moving us.

Is the Pirate House still open and worth going to?

My sister went back about ten years ago and she said the river front has been modernized and looks nothing like it used to.

The fort is cool

Downtown Savanah is a cool day trip.

Wornsloe Plantation is damn cool. It was used in the Patriot.

A good movie for a short look at older, 1970's Savannah (i.e. River Street ect) is "Hopscotch" with Walter Matthau.  A long forgotten Cold War-flick that's both entertaining and very well done.  The Savannah-area scenes are short but they got the feel of city right, not the "clean" modern tourist city of today.

Yes, the Pirates House is still open and thriving.  Along with Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House/Dining Room.  Sorry for the thread slide......
