Saw it this morning and was quite entertained. Quite a few comical parts, as well as some good action scenes, and of course, special effects. If you enjoyed the first one, I think you'd like this one as well. I think I actually liked it a bit better than the first one. The main bad guy is played by Luke Goss, who played the main bad guy in Blade 2 (also a Del Toro movie) and he did as well in this as he did in Blade 2. I've always been nuts about Selma Blair, and I don't think she's ever looked better than she did in this movie. It's definitely worth at least a matinee look-see, or maybe even a full price watching if you're a big enough fan. |

I saw it this afternoon, and really liked it. I used to have the first six or seven Hellboy graphic novels, so a little bit of a fanboy. This is also said as a movie and comic book fan. Some thoughts on the movie. I liked the first one, and liked II even better. The monster scenes are awesome. I truly wish Larry Miller had been available in the beginning for the Tom Manning role, not a big Tambor fan. While the Johann Kraus character never really stood out for me in the comics, he really came to life in this movie. This is in no small part due to Seth MacFarlane voicing of the character. The elves make you wish GDT would do a Elric of Melinboune movie. One of my only regrets, still no Roger character (Hellboy fans will know what I'm talking about). Selma Blair looks hot, that haircut would not work for anyone else, but for some reason it looked sexy on her (so did the leather pants). Ron Perlman is Hellboy. I hope he can stay in the game long enough for GDT to come back and make the third Hellboy movie. It would have been a nice nod in the flash back scene of Hellboy as a kid, to have a shot of him eating pamcakes. I would recommend this movie to all. It has something for everyone. Just a great summer movie. Flyingrhino |

Just got back. I like it! Never managed to see the whole first movie; I suck, I fail, etc. You don't need to see the first to understand this one. It's entertaining. There is a plot. The visuals are amazing. The elves are ethereal. There is angst and conflict. Hellboy gets his red ass kicked by a locker room. You get to see a 10 year old hellboy, which was a trip in it's own right. Better than several of the other big movies that have come out thus far. Watch it. |

I saw it tonight. I think it's a very good movie and I will be buying it on Blu-Ray when it comes out. It's not unusual to want to bang the female elf. She's hot in a slightly disturbed way. Heck, I'd rather bang her than most goth chicks! Great line from the movie: Abe:"My body is a temple." Hellboy: "It's an amusement park." (Hands him a beer.) ![]() Liz is HOT! That new character, whatever his name is..the fart in the spacesuit...is pretty cool, much more than I imagined. CJ |
You're right. The poor guy felt like the last Republican Senator in Congress. most of them are decent folk anyway, and in the process, save his own skin and his hot sister's skin, too. If I could rewrite one scene in the movie, Hellboy would have put the crown on and ordered the Golden Army to destroy itself permanently (by throwing itself into the fire pit, I would imagine) and THEN let Liz melt the crown down...and after it cooled, take home that puddle of gold. Payday! The "tooth fairies" are a very clever addition to the movie. CJ |
You and me both, buddy. Even with her...scarred? up face, she was fucking beautiful. I liked it a lot. The elves, especially, were kick ass, kind of a funky wood-drow thing going on. I also really liked that Angel of Death...that was wicked sick! I never read the comics, so I'm going to have to pick a few of them up. |

I think Luke Goss gave the best performance in the whole movie. Pretty much every time he spoke I'd think "wow he really nailed that line". Doug Jones performance as Abe really disappointed me. He wasn't consistent with the role at all. His voice changed so much that i went to go look up the cast to see if it was the same actor from the first movie. I was convinced (until i went to look it up) that Abe was played by David Hyde Pierce in the first movie. |
| Well, I thought it was OK. Not worth seeing in theatres, a wait for DVD type thing. I enjoyed the first one, so I guess I had high expectations for 2, and was let down. Somewhat decent storyline, although some "character developtment" was not neccesary IMO, and detracted from the storyline. I saw H2 and WallE on the same day, I thought W was much better. |
I didn't think it was as good as a lot of folks here. I enjoyed it. I watched the first one again Saturday night in anticipation of seeing the second on Sunday. I'm getting old, the whole messed up relationship thing no longer works for me, it's an old story I've seen a thousand times. However, I was into comics when Hellboy came out, and at that age, I fit right into the target demographic, and it would've been perfectly okay. It just didn't work for me. I enjoyed the film, definately worth seeing on the big screen. And the amusement park joke, quoting a tee shirt is not novel. I do agree with the pancake statement, but it was covered in the first film, and it would've been a challenge to squeeze it in to the flashback in the latest. One question for the fans of the comic. Was there a lot of clockwork in the book too? I couldn't help but notce that moving gears was a recurring theme between both films. |

"Hellboy goes to Narnia" WTF??!! I did not like it, went too far away from the original. Too much love story, not enough Lovecraft. Cool monsters, in true del Toro fashion. Luke Goss was really good. The story just didn't appeal to me at all. I wanted some ancient evil, not LOTR. I was even kinda rooting for the Elf, had a Darth Maul thing goin' on. |
Watched it tonight and until I read some of the comments in this thread had no idea that one of the Goss twins was in it... I remember when they were a band... Enjoyed it, but kept expecting more from "the agency" behind the characters... Men in dark suits wandering around, power struggles that didn't deliver... As a comic book movie it did what it said on the can, will wait for the third one then buy the box set.. Loved the scene where he shouted for "Abe" and got back "Don't call me babe!".... Then switched channels (not) and got another slap... |
