have to vote no on this one.  Falcons have a small "tooth" like protrusion on their upper mandible that they use to sever the spinal column of their pray.  The OP's raptor has hawk like mandibles.

Must be a female Coopers hawk.

Yup, Cooper's Hawk.
They are pretty neat birds to watch in action. We have one that's been hanging around my store for a year or so.
This last Saturday morning he was making a meal from a (still alive) rabbit in my parking lot and wasn't going to budge from it until I got about 3 feet away.

I moved the rabbit to a grassy area, ended its suffering, but the bird gave me the evil eye during the process.
The hawk went right back to it after I walked away.

thats pretty cool.  The birds of prey around here get bored of hunting, and instead get into my trash.  an eagle in a pile of dirty diapers doesnt make for such a cool picture.

Our area is a bird sanctuary.  We have a huge nest of some sort eagle or hawk in our back yard.  We have seen bald eagle flying over.  We also saw a huge hawk with at least a 5 foot wing span fly real close to us and take off down the road.  The woodpeckers here are beautiful too.  I haven't seen any, but I hear owls hooing.  Those are beautiful bird pictures you have there.  I have never really gotten to see bird wildlife close up until we moved to this area and I think they are beautiful.  I hope to see what is living in that big nest in the back yard.

This was last winter after an ice storm.

It is a Sharp-shinned Hawk, the length of the legs give it away.
