-Sort your spices into ones used commonly (Cumin, paprika, etc) and keep in a drawer or spice rack on the counter. The rest, place in a large tupperware container, it will help prevent them from falling everywhere and opening as well as drying out/getting wet/moldy.
-Sort your crap, Baking goods (sugar, flour, cake mixes, pudding, etc) all on one shelf. Lunch types (soups, etc another shelf, canned goods stacked in their boxes on the bottom shelf. Light dry goods (cereal, oatmeal, etc) top shelf. -If you don't use your appliances, donate them or sell them. No point in keeping 3 different crockpots, if you don't use more than one. If you don't use that popcorn popper put it out in the garage. Get the crap stuff out of there that you ain't using. We have to closet style pantries like you've got, one is for baking goods, spices and general household crap (Tupperware, extra paper towels, etc) and the other is for food. heavy stuff goes on the bottom, and consider using the depth effectively. Things you use rarely (Matzo balls, or cranberry sauce things) put in the back... Taller bulky things? Keep in the back as well since you can easily identify them even when something is in front. Edit: -Also cut some more shelves... You've got alot of wasted space up there that you're dicking around with spices. If you don't like the tupperware idea for storing spices and other perishibles (rice, flour, sugar) consider making a very short shelf just for them. And hows that homemade Pita mix work out? |

Nice! My collection is not even close |

What's behind it? We had the same thing in our kitchen and I knocked the wall out behind it into the garage. Had to move the hot water heater and a slop sink to do it, but it was the single best home improvement project I've ever done. Added 3ft of depth and made a world of difference. Before Inside garage after removing sink, before installing new HW heater After demo, framing extension 3yo caught in the act of 'helping' Finished |

A bi-fold door would get you better access. I recommend getting those items off the floor. Not sanitary. Expanding the frame work and the bifold would be really good. If nothing else, hang some racks on the back of that door. This may not work if the door is hollow and weak. What is behind the wall on the right? Can you make it wider? |
