Specifically, I need something that will tell me in real time (or as close as possible) what the wind speeds are in storms headed my way. What's good enough, what's the best?
Thanks in advance! |

What I need is something that will tell me the actual wind velocities in approaching supercells. Because of what I do, this is extremely important information, and yet it seems damn near impossible to find anywhere. For example, I was in Missouri a month or so ago. The local fire department warned up that 65mph winds were on the way. I checked a dozen websites, including websites dedicated exclusively to wind speeds. I checked wunderground and NOAA. I looked for warnings and spotter reports. All indicated nothing unusual. Nothing over thirty or thirty-five. No big deal.
I had just finished telling my wife that the earlier warnings were clearly wrong when the storm hit. I do not care if the software costs money, I need the information. Thanks again. |
