I bought a Minolta "beercan" 70-210 f/4 zoom lens from a guy on Craigslist. The lens is in great shape on the outside, but after I got home I noticed it had little white "spiders" on several of the inner elements. A quick trip to google taught me this was lens fungus, which until now I was not even aware of.
Questions: How will this affect the photos? Silly question, right, but I have not bought the Sony Alpha 560 camera I intended to use this with yet. Can I get this cleaned, and will it cost a lot of money? I paid $90 for the lens. The fungus is on several elements, so a complete disassembly would be in order. Where should I take it or send it to get it cleaned, if it is not prohibitive? |
