I gave up hoping to get my pics back and reloaded a bunch the other day on this new hosting thang. I finally figured out the round about way to get to my photos and copy'd one into this post http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=145245&page=1.

1. My question is why is the dang pic so small?? Solved, see post below

2. I posted this before using the old system and it always came out fine, so please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

3. How is this better than what we had, as access to my own pics now is not that easy to get to?

Would appreciate any advice on how to operate the new system, cus it looks highly likely that I'm not doing something correct.

Thanks,
Mike

PS - 4. Is there no way to access my pics by clickin on my "User Info" button anymore?

5. I had to add my e-mail address to my user info in order to get it to show there now, was this not on my User Info under the old system?

1. digital pictures are represented by pixels... if you look at the properties of the one your first post has, it is only 100x32 pixels... very small.

2. perhaps you shrunk the picture too much, or scanned it at a very low resolution... or maybe your hosting company will only allow small sized pictures to save bandwidth... could be a lot of reasons.

3. not sure what you had before...

try this.

Open the file that is on your computer with whatever image editing software you have (paintshop pro, photosop, etc.) and try and find a menu area that has "image properties" or "image size" or something like that to see if your original picture is very small or not.

If it's small, you'lll just want to re-acquire that image (somehow) at a higher resolution. Be it scanning it in on a scanner at a higher DPI (dots per inch), or by using a digital camera with a higher resolution setting.

If it's larger sized on your computer... then either when you saved it for the web it got downsized, or somewhere along the line it was taken down in resolution.

OK, #1. & 2. is solved.... I copy/pasted the thumbnail version of the pic instead of the real image so now the post looks better, more like I expect to see.

Boy this new system is much less "user friendly" than the old way, I know it holds more but unless I'm doing somethin wrong, it is way more difficult to go grap one of my on pics to post in a thread. And now ya have to be sure to get the image not the thumnail....

When you upload a pic to the new server, it has a url right with it to load the picture. It does not load a thumbnail at all. You don't even need to worry about thumbnails except if you want one for GIF images and thus need to upload it with your full size image.

There's really no way to link your thumbnail out, except if you upload it as a regular image! [=)]

Make sure to check the pics AFTER you upload them to ensure they made it to the server ok... then show me an example of a pic link in here and I'll double check it for ya. [=)]
