So, is it time to let the washer go?

We've got an old Maytag 610 washer.  Skipping cycles, won't spin out half the time but then will sometimes.

I installed a new timer but still having problems.  Gets to the spin and stalls...then you go to check it out 30 minutes later and it has spun out.  And yes, I did install with all the wires in the proper place.

Is it possible the new timer is defective?  What other fixes should we try?

Thanks.

Go here and ask him to buy you a new one...

He did get a new Credit Card, and He is the Master of all things Home Appliance.

Any strange noises coming from the gearbox?

Perhaps a partly-clogged drain hose?  Any smell involved?

No noises from the gears.  No smell

It will spin out after the wash, fill and then start to spin on the rinse but stops....then will skip around do a soak for 30 minutes and finally spin out.

This is why I am questioning if the new part is defective or not.  But, with the old timer these were the same problems.

We will check the hoses for clogs.
