Okay so here is the scoop.  Lately I have had a bug up my ass about getting a 1911.  I was looking at the SIG XO 1911, but being poor I decide to go a cheaper route.  I bought a cheap GI style 1911.  What a piece of shit.  Jams every other round, inaccurate....horrible.  So I sold it (full disclosure provided).  Now I'm looking at two different guns.  A new SIG XO ($800) and a used HK45c ($850) (I already own an HK P2000 in 9mm, so the grip would be familiar).

Heres my delima, I cannot really afford either one, UNLESS, I sell another gun. I have a Mosserg 590, with lots of extras, that just sits in the safe.  Never gets fired.  Problem is, it is my only 12ga and no collection is complete without a 12ga.  I do have a 20ga single shot I use for hunting, so the 590 just sits there and collects dust.  Should I sell the 590 to fund another handgun that would get shot?

Heres a list of what I have;

Stag/Sabre Defense franken AR15
New England Arms 20ga single shot (very first gun)
Mossberg 720 plinkster .22lr
H&K P2000 9mm
1911 (sold pending funds)
Lorcin .380 (don't ask, it was a gift of sorts, I promised not to sell it )
Mosin Nagant M44 (in pieces, it was a project that never got finished)
and of course the Mossberg 590.

So what does GD think, sell the 590 that never gets fired to buy a handgun ( I plan on making my new carry piece) that will get shot?  Should be an easy decision, right?

poll inbound.

LAYAWAY !

I'm really not good at waiting and the used HK45c (which is the way I'm starting to lean) is a private sale so no lay-a-way.

First, you should probably take the bug out of your ass.

And yes, I'd sell the 590 you never fire. If you are against selling the 20 guage (I understand), you can sell the 590 and still have a shotgun left to play with..

Poll fail, the only correct answer is to save up a little longer so you DON'T have to sell the shotgun.

I like this option.

The HK isn't a P7 series or other hard to find piece... save up a bit.

Here's an idea. Save your money instead of getting rid of your beloved 12ga.

Do any of us really need more than one handgun?  No.  It is not about need, its about want.  You do have a valid point.  Maybe I should bank a little and buy the toys after I get my degree, but then again, what fun would that be?

Who said anything about owing people or credit cards?  Because I'm poor, must mean I have huge sums of debt?  Maybe I'm poor because I am putting myself through college without aquiring debt.  Don't start jumping to conclusions there sparky.  Lets keep this on topic.

I'm trying to point a very obvious problem that you don't seem to care about.  You don't have a 1911, you want one and you're willing to sell personal belongings just so you can have a new, shiny toy yet you're living hand to mouth.  You're not seeing an issue here?
