I'm in the middle of putting a Pontiac 455 into a mid 80's chevy 4x4. I picked up some headman shortys, but the drivers side dumps right into the frame. It sits flush to the inner channel of the frame rail, so that there would be no way to attach a down pipe. Has any one on here done a swap like this before?

Most people would use a Chevy 454. That's a lot of work for 1 c.i. The 454 might come later. I needed the stroker that was in that truck for a nice little 67 swb c10 that I'm throwing together at the same time. The truck with the poncho is just a mudder, so the large bore and short stroke will work nicely. |

I know that manifolds will work as I've heard of the swap before.
You used to see lots of BOP engines in trucks, mostly ones that came with a 350 diesel originally. For headers you're very much in the " gonna have to try em and see" zone. Unless you want to weld some Pontiac flanges on SBC truck headers and hope they still clear |

Build your own! I bought a cheap BBC weld up kit from Speedway and made my own Pontiac flanges. This is how you get a Poncho into a 74 IH Scout chassis. Exited foreward cause the motor doesn't know any different, and less conflicts with starter, frame, front axle, etc. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s48/paulz463/Mobile%20Uploads/DSCN0215_zpsvpjqymqv.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s48/paulz463/Mobile%20Uploads/DSCN0198_zpsjsjavpib.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s48/paulz463/Mobile%20Uploads/DSCN0210_zpsvbicywol.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s48/paulz463/Mobile%20Uploads/DSCN0214_zps53cylzx4.jpg It's a race only mud drag rig, so no muffler action. Alternatively, you could get something close and buy some mandrel U bends and reroute a tube or two to get what you need. + You, sir, are awesome.
