It is freezing in this house. When ''she'' moved out early this summer i never got the gas reconnected in my name. I had no need for a furnace so i put it off. Now it is 60 degrees in here and they can't get here until Friday morning. Should i build a fire in the garbage can?

60?  Just put on some sweats a good pair of socks and make yourself a big cup of coffee or tea.

Problem solved.

The garbage can idea on the other hand is one of those, er, shall we say "short sighted" fixes.

Put some clothes on. Wear socks and a hat.

Is there a pin through the lock on the meter ?

yes

I would turn it on myself if i could get away with it. I am sure they have the last reading from when it was disconnected, i would not be getting any free gas.

Jackass gas man was across the street yesterday so went over and asked him if he could spare a couple minutes to turn it on. He said he had to go get parts for the job he was on and he would be backand turn it on. Never came back It is alot warmer today though.

You're in North Dakota, and you say that 60 degrees is cold!?  Dude! 32 degrees is t-shirt, shorts, and car-washing weather!  32 FEELS like 60 in your neck of the woods!

I was at Minot for 4 years, and yes, we were washing cars at 32 degrees in t-shirts and shorts.  But I'll tell you, I certainly don't miss traipsing around the Missile Complex when the temperature with wind chill was down to 90 below!

Its not cold, it has just been 80+ all summer and i need to adjust. Those winter days where the 20 below temps break and it gets up to 15 outside does feel like summer.
