I have a 2007 AWD model, 150,000 miles.  Bought it used in 2010 with 45,000 miles.  Had to get the trans rebuilt soon after purchase, no idea what work may have been done to it before then.  For the past several years, when the car is placed in Park, sometimes all of the gear position lights on the dash go on, the AWD warning light comes on, and a tone sounds.  If you turn the engine off, the tailgate won't open, and a status message pops up that says the car is not in Park.  I've just been living with it, if you wait a few minutes, the tail gate will open, but it is really irritating at times.  I'm told this is probably a bad ground somewhere.  Has anyone ever seen this problem before, and determined the fix?  My local dealer is unsure what's going on, I'm hoping to at least get some thoughts from GD....

I would have gotten rid of it at 100,000 miles...

Easy, just remove the Chrysler from your Pacifica.

I had a Charger that was plagued with electrical issues. Buddy of mine has a Town and Country with serious issues as well. Google will show you are far from alone on this.

Check ground between body and engine/transmission. Open ground can cause several issues. Ground G101 attaches to the passenger side of the transmission. Since the transmission has been rebuilt there is a possibility the ground was not reattached or is loose.

ETA: apparently these also have some known issues with grounding - see here https://youtu.be/tbhTXDXNa7k?t=33s

Add a 4ga ground wire from the battery to the engine.

I wish I'd never bought it.  There have been other electrical issues with the trans, I've had motor mounts replaced and also part of the wiring harness to address other issues.  Did not do my homework.   I typically drive 'em till they drop, but I'm close to dumping this one....

Man, I totally forgot that car existed. I can't remember the last time I saw one.

It's not a bad car comfort and feature-wise, but apparently the drivetrain has had issues from day 1....
