Friend and I are having an argument, answer is obvious if you ask me.

SHTF, you are standing in front of two vehicles, you can only take one (this is going to be your BOV for ever) which one would you choose, and don't pick the vehicle just because you have one, if you don't know about the inner workings or capabilities of both vehicles please move on
Go!

Pick any one...

ETA: posted link before I saw the poll.  I picked the pickup, with a diesel engine.

Jeep, good solid rig that will go far more places than the Chevy.
I'm also not at all impressed with the Duramax.

Jeep all the way, I've owned both and I would rather have the Jeep.

Tough choice.  I wheeled an XJ on 35s for years and loved that piece of shit.  Solid axles, light, maneuverable, tough.  But a Duramax/Allison combo is hard to beat and there's tons of room compared to a Jeep...

the correct answer is, it depends.  where are you bugging out to and where from?  who are you buggin out w/?  what do you need to take w/ you (e.g., is your BOL prestocked or not)?  how many people do you need to take w/ you?

jeep will go lots of places the duramax won't.  i'd hate to try to take the duramax up any kind of mountain trail, especially if they'res rocks.

the duramax will have a wider variety of fuels it can run on - diesel, kerosene, waste vegetable oil, etc.

The diesel option.

I have had Jeep Wranglers before, and have a 4 door Wrangler now. If you need to carry much with you the Jeep is not a good choice. It will go almost anywhere, it just won't let you take much with you when you go.
I vote truck. You can fill that bed up with everything you will need. I have a Dodge Ram and the Wrangler- and I usually take the truck. My wife drives the Jeep.

That's what I always thought until I read a Katrina Thread in the SF.

The Chevy can carry more people and gear.  And it has an actual roof.

Duramax.

I hate Jeeps.

I thought it was long settled that your two best choices were a KLR 650 or a horse.

A horse can keep you company on those lonely nights as well.

So it's settled then?

I also went with the truck. Jeeps have no room, no passenger capabilities and run off gasoline. The 2500 has tons of room for storage, it's passenger capability is out of this world, it's towing capacity is out of this world, which would also come in handy with a wench and runs on a diesel engine meaning more power and better fuel economy.  I thought the choice was obvious.
