Had to terminate an employee for basically pulling his service truck under a tree and sleeping 30 of his 40 hour week. He turned over his company iphone to our IT manager but will not give us his pass code to get into it.

The find my phone function is turned off and we've tried just about any and every set of numbers we can thing of.

Any ideas how to unlock it? Not worried about keeping any of the info on it, just want to set it up for his replacement to use.

Threaten him with small claims court for cost of phone, tech time ect if he does not cough up code.

Probably loaded with porn.

This will wipe the phone:

You are lucky that find my phone is turned off, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to reactivate it.

our HR policy about company cellphones is that you must provide the code or we will dock the cost of the phone from your final pay check...

Cost vs. return on that one would be tough, funny thing is I honored the bro code and gave him a second to delete his browser history when we termed him. Had him dead to rights on work rules so no need to filet the guy... guess this is what I get for being nice.

Isn't there an option to wipe it from iTunes?  I can't remember if the passcode is needed or not.

Are you a small company?  Can you dock it from his final pay check?

Maybe tell him that if he's willing to come in and do a factory reset, you'll call it even and not dock his pay.

Is it connected to a company email account using Exchange? There may be an option in the Exchange Management Console under that user to remotely wipe the device.

Yeah this. Wipe and forget about it unless there is something on there you need.
If you couldn't wipe and reactivate, take the cost of a replacement phone out of his last check.

Fixed in iOS10.  As soon as you click the reminder, it immediately wants the passcode.

Also, even if they get it unlocked that way when they go to wipe the phone to set it up for the new employee the first thing it asks for is the passcode.
