Purchased new computer with Windows 10 on it a year or so ago.
Spent hours setting it up, transferring files etc. 2 days later it asked for a password like your describing when I started it up. Wtf? Microsoft help desk asked if I could see my e-mail address on the screen asking for my password. When I answered no they told me there was nothing they could do to access it. I had to return it and get a new one. And yes it had a ton of sensitive crap on it in files. Some serious wtf there. |

MS has some sort of fucked up idea the Windows Live account, email account, and local machine account should be the same. It might have ended up with the email password in configuration. Also, try a blank password. There are ways to reset it if you can can boot off a CD or thumb drive. |
| OP, at the login screen, try clicking on the power icon, press and continue to hold your shift key and select restart. Once it reboots, just select the troubleshooting option. From there, you can use the advanced settings to restore it, boot into safe mode etc,.. |
