Hi Everyone,
I need some help. 100% of our PCs at work are 64 bit Windows 7 Professional. Everyone of our machines has the same backup routine; Mozypro for files plus daily system backup to an attached USB drive using Windows 7 backup. Every time we have lost a machine, restoring a system image from the attached USB drive has not been an issue...Until now. One of our shipping machines wouldn't boot. When starting, it goes into Windows recovery. No problem, I get a Windows disk, restore from the previous backup and same thing. Oh no. So, I restore from a backup from two days prior and same thing. I restore from a backup from a week prior and same thing. I re-install Windows 7 and it works great. Then, I restore from a backup a week prior without formatting the hard drive, and it boots right into Windows restore. In Summary: -- Windows 7 64 Bit professional. -- Came in one morning and it was stuck on Window Repair. -- Have USB backup with ~45 days of daily full system backups -- If I reinstall Windows 7, the machine works fine. -- If I "recover" from ANY of the 45 daily backups, the recovery goes though the normal process, but when it restarts, it goes into Windows recovery. (How could ALL of 45 days of backups have the exact same issue when the machine worked great????) Anyone have any ideas on how to get the recovery to work, a utility to run on the machine to fix it or the correct amount of tannerite/caliber to use on a Dell OptiPlex 960? |

I'd start with making a cd boot disk from the hard disk mfg and scan the drive health. If that's ok, try one of these
