Ok, I'm talking to a lib about gun control and the death they cause.  I responded let ban cars because of all the drunk drivers that kill people... he gave me a deer in headlights look

What are the stats on how many deaths that have been firearm related to drunk driver deaths?

Ban swimming pools...which have a higher
rate of youth deaths than guns in the USA.

Lets not forget doctors.  Doctors kill a lot of people too.

And for the coup de grĂ¢ce, even gungrabbing researchers have admitted that guns save lives, they usually just downplay it in relation to all the other deaths that guns "cause".  If you take into account the fact that the vast majority of violent firearms deaths are criminal on criminal (Chicago has been the recent example), the number of times a firearm takes a completely innocent life (while still tragic) is miniscule compared to the number of defensive gun uses, even by the lowball estimates.  If Kleck is right with his two million DGUs/year, you can factor in suicides and line-of-duty officer involved shootings (which Brady likes to include in their numbers) and guns would still be worth it by a ridiculous margin.

This is why the debate centers less around fact and more around emotion.

True, your more likely to have a drowning at your home if you have a pool, than a shooting at your home if you own a gun.

We need a list of things that generate more deaths every year that are more than firearms in America.
