Is the rest of the tick gone?

If the rest of the tick is broken off, the head will either have to fester out, or you can get aggressive with  tweezers, but good luck keeping the cat still for that.

If the tick is there you can apply petroleum jelly over the entire tick and try to get it to back out.

Hemostats and unscrew it counterclockwise (I think).

Put the tick stuff (from the vet) on the cat. The ticks will die and fall off. Most likely they are too attached now to physically remove. Don't try the matchhead, petroleum jelly, alcohol, etc.. tips. They don't work. Tick the critter at regular intervals.

Horrible idea.

If the tick is alive, place something that evaporates quickly on it.  Rubbing alcohol, iodine, you get the idea.

Count to 5 and gently pull the tick straight out from the most vertical position you can.

Problem solved.

I put Dawn dish soap on one once and it backed its way out of my leg.  It wasn't in very deep though so I'm not sure if it would work or not.

Just rip it off.  Who cares of the head is still there?

LOL.  If you didn't say it I would.  All they saw in the OP was "Cat.  Tick.  Help."

Sun screen also works.  (Handy if you're camping.)

As it heals it will push the head out.

If the cat will stand still you can dig it out with tweezers.

If the head is IN the cat - leave it alone.

Ah if it's just the head the use tweezers.  Pull straight out gently and try not to crush the head.  Much like masturbation, minus the tweezers.

Clear fingernail polish or a lighter, whatever the cat can take.

I have had only 1 tick in my whole life attach to my leg (I was younger than 10 I think).  I applied rubbing alcohol to some toilet paper, and held it over the tick for a moment (can't remember how long).  When I removed the toilet paper, the tick was in the paper...I didn't even have to pry him off my leg or anything.

The the poster who suggested petroleum jelly...is that to suffocate it?  If it has dug in, does this still work?

SHeesh, it's just the damn HEAD of a tick, not the whole thing...................

Some GOOD tweezers if the cat is halfway calm, if not, keep putting some antibiotic cream on it everyday and check to see when it starts to get pushed out. At that time, it'll come out pretty easy. Continue to treat for a few days after the head comes out and make sure it's not getting infected. If it does, take the cat to the vet and get it removed and treated.

To late to save him now.  My advice is take him out to the back 40 and put him down.  Sorry for your loss .

Call police.

When the police arrive, say to the cat, "Down dog, down dog."

Police shoot cat.

No more worries about ticks.

Remove cat's head from it's body.

To be helpful....

Use fingernail clippers.  Turn them at an angle and around the ticks head.  Squeeze and remove head.  You may get some skin in there as well, but it's better than leaving it in the poor thing.
