On Wednesday night, playing basketball got my feet tangled up and went down. When I looked down my foot was on a different axis than my leg, it set itself in a matter of seconds. Swelled up to softball sized in about a minute. Drove myself to the ER and got Xrays, which turned up negative.   One day R. I. C. E. and I can bear weight, with the wrap and air splint I can walk fairly normal. Getting started and stairs are less than pleasant, but them are the breaks

TL;DR..... Don't fall

Might want to see a PT about that.

yep. I had one just about like that. 6 months later and it was still weak and flimsy. A couple months of PT (The electrotherapy device and some specific exercises), and I was good to go.

Yeah, I go for the follow up visit on Monday, need to have the primary care write the script for PT so insurance will cover it

When you can, start doing the ABCs by pointing your foot and acting like you are drawing them with your big toe. Advil/ibpro 4 pills X 3 per day for a week. Ice 20 heat for 10 always ending on ice. Work you way to calf raises and then do them on stairs.

It's a slow process but you won't loose strength if you do it like that.

Be sure the PTs address the joint issues as well.  Everything probably is not quite where it should be after something like that.
