So I just started watching this show "High Impact" and it's focus is the M16. It starts off talking about the '94 bank robbery and a guy comes on and says that the ak-47 round is designed to penetrate tanks. This guy came across in my mind as a detective talking about this incident. How do people like this make it into a position where they are to be trusted on these matters? I mean, if 7.62x39mm is meant to penetrate tanks, why would we need AT-4's and SMAWs?
ETA: He is apparently one of the responding swat officers. Officer Massa, he's the one that shot the second guy in the ankle to end it. |

I've heard equally retarded shit from Drill instructors when I went through Army basic. I've also heard retarded shit about weapons from friends of mine in other services and from instructors in military schools from other services. How do people like that get into the position where they are trusted on these matters? It's simple, sometimes good folks, even high speed types who know a lot of high speed shit, comment on things they aren't really up to speed on and they say stupid shit. It happens |

Lots of BS and misconceptions proliferated by the ignorant.
The Top Sniper competition on the Military Channel had teams with semi-autos and teams with bolt actions. The semi-auto teams said the semi-auto is superior because they don't have to go off target to reload, it then shows a team with the M40 shooter looking down at the action rolling the rifle almost on it's side then working the bolt. 
There is no need to take your eye out of the scope if you are properly cheek welded to the stock. Hold your weld, stay on target, work the bolt.

However... Whether stupid was the right choice or dishonest, irresponsible, unprofessional or just plain ignorant would have been better they all need checked. |
