Today's exciting installment has our hero scrambling to the aircraft as his pager goes off just after 6AM. I was walking to the vending machine from the fuel island for my morning Diet Pepsi that I consume at the beginning of my second hour of flight each morning. When the pager fired off I knew there had to be a police assist request so I about faced and ran to the plane. I taxied on two wheels to where my announcer is parked and after a quick pick up, intersection take off and a low level turn out we were full throttle to the intercept about four miles away. The suspect had turned back toward the airport so the chase was closing at about 215knots. At one mile the vehicle description came over the two way, "White Geo Metro, west bound 20/26 from McDermot at 85mph." I crossed the road at an altitude of about 60 feet and 140knts right in front of the suspect to allert all involved that I was there. A Metro is NOT going to get away from me! Spike strips deployed one mile further west had their effect and the chase went to a foot pursuit just long enough to get a state trooper to have to jump into a 3 foot deep canal to capture the juvenile female. My radio announcer commented on the morning radio show that at 85 mph in a Metro the noise must have been deafening! Planerench out. |
You are correct. I have the rig off my last AC I just don't have the week of down time it takes to route the wires for the video and remote control. Plus, all the equipment is 12v and the AC is 24V. We have a converter for the broadcast radios but the current is dirty as can be. It would probably distort the video. Some of these chases would be TV material. Planerench out. |
Just think of the time spent as an investment in all the money you'll be making selling your tapes to television shows! |
Probably embarassed at her ride. Thought someone might recongnize her. She stole the vehicle. ***NOTE TO SELF*** If you ever decide to steal a car and run from the police, choose a vehicle that is at least as fast as a Crown Vic. Planerench out. |
