I have been fighting pain on the ball of my foot for a year.
I tried physical therapy
several different insoles including Dr soles high dollar inserts at walmart from there machine.
Chiropractor and he sold me inserts also
A cortizone shot. Didn't work.
Now the podiatrist want's to sell me a 400.00 $ pair of custom insoles.
Anybody here had results from custom insoles?

I need to get them eventually but I am using the Dr. Scholls that the machine told me to use.
I am shocked at how much pain went away from those but the high dollar ones that are molded for your feet will be worth it.

Absolutely.  I have a pair of hard plastic insole inserts that were made for me by a guy I went to high school with.  They are worth every penny X 100.  My guy had me lay on a table and then he pressed blocks of styrofoam similar to the stuff florists use and then used that as the pattern.  The minute I stepped into them my feet felt better and now 10 years or so later I still use them every day and have zero pain.  My problem was planters faceitis and I am cured.  These things are indestructible and I expect will last a lifetime.

My guy worked at Hanger Orthotics which I think is a national chain.

Do it!

I use the Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx insoles. I'm on my feet all day on a concrete floor. These are the best insoles I've ever used, no foot problems since I got them.

I just collapsed my arch and have plantar fasciitis this week, all while at the beach.

I was unable to walk, literally had to jump around.  I got a walking boot from the doc, and now most of the pain is gone, I bought done arch supports.  I'm ok now 4 days later.

The doc said he has his own fiberglass custom ones from 1998 still and they are great.

Yes, they work. But the custom ones are no better than OTC quality units. You get what you pay for!

Redwing sells insoles you put in the oven then you put in your shoes and stand in them as they form to your feet. They are $40 and they rock.

They might be covered by insurance if you have a medical diagnosis.

Worth every penny; custom orthotics work great for me.  No more foot pain, ankle strain, or knee pain.  **True custom orthotics, made by a professional from a mold of your feet; not the foam inserts you buy off the shelf.

I fractured my heel. I bought the $400 inserts.

Some of the best money I ever spent.

I have custom carbon fiber ones.  They kick ass in the cold, as in your feets don't freeze.

I went this route

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Made-Molded-Orthotics-Full-Length-Semi-Rigid-Red-White-Blue-Spirit-EVA-/200960701673?hash=item2eca30f4e9

BEST $100 I ever spent. The one sports medicine Dr I saw wanted $600 for custom orthotics TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING same mold boxes and everything. I can walk, run ,stand all day in absolutely no foot pain at all. They keep a computer model of your mold and make more pairs at way less if you need them in the future.

ETA:

The first pair I got from this guy is 5-6 yrs old now and still kicking right along.

Loved the price, bought 2 pair, using the Gel work now.  They have held up better than the original Red Wings at half the cost.

I got mine at Happy Feet, my feet were fixed the minute I put them in, that was 8 plus years ago, I think they were $325ish well worth the money.

i went to a Good Feet Store earlier in the year and IIRC they wanted $600 for a 3 pair set

it was for sesamoiditis that healed on it's own in 3-days with R&R, but damn it was painful.

Paid $350 (well my parents did anyway) for orthotics when I was 17 and got a stress fracture just above my ankle from running cross country.
Healed up, ran the rest of the season, ran the next year, ran some in college, ran a bunch in the Army ...
They worked great for the better part of two decades, until I accidentally threw them away.

Need to get a new pair.

My feet started hurting so bad I could barely walk. The doc made custom molded arch supports for me, and it was amazing. Pain went away, felt 100% better Best money I ever spent.
