I'm looking for a high quality backpack that I can put alot of heavy stuff into and not have it kill my back. My current backpack is really hard on my lowerback when I fill it up. I need something medium sized, but nothing really big. I'll mostly use it for carrying my gear while I'm out in the woods and I need to be able to put 40-60 pounds of dead weight in it for when I jog/run. Price isn't too much of an object. I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks.

Eagle MOLLE A-III Assault Pack  sounds like it would fit the bill.....I have owned several Eagle back packs, and all have been VERY durable!

Osprey.  I go backpacking/camping a lot and they're the best pack I've been able to find.

I use an Aether 90 for exactly what you are descibing.

I also have an Atmos for ultralight backpacking.

There are alot of packs to choose from today. Gregory is a company in Kalifornia that makes excellent gear. Extremely well made and the fit and comfort is incredible. They are pricey -- but top of the line in all respects.

I like the ALICE medium pack on a frame. It is very comfortable to me, but that may be after having to tote one without a frame for a long ways

I've used a Gregory for trips to Pakistan, Nepal Himalaya, Alaska Denali, not to mention years of Smoky Mountain trips with apprx. the weight that you mention...granted..I didn't jog, mainly just trekking and alpine style mountaineering.

Cabela's Alaskan pack frame is good.

I really like the products made by "Crooked Horn Outfitters"  Really good stuff.  Go to their website.

Irish317, you mentioned the Eagle III-A Assualt pack, the site doesn't say what the max weight you can carry in it is, do you happen to know?
This is the pack in question but without the MOLLE
Most of the other packs (Berghaus, Gregory, Arcteryx, Ospery) that can carry over 40 pounds are too large for what I need. Ospery does have one I'd consider Atmos 65 though I don't like bright colors.

Right now the Eagle III-A Assualt Pack seems to fit what I need best, as long as it can handle the weight effectively, the Atmos would be a fall back. I'm still open to suggestions.
