I remember a few years ago I saw a commemorative shotgun (Mossberg, IIRC) celebrating the occasion when the residents of an American town took up arms and overthrew their local government.

I think it happened during the Great Depression, maybe just after WW2 but I can't recall.

I want to know more about the incident. Can anybody help?

Wasn't there a town in NC where the same thing happended, but earlier?

I thought one of the small places around New Bern had the people take it's town back from the (then) JBT's...
