When Uncle Sam catches and nails a tax-paying scam artist, like the Wall-Street pukes (i.e. Madoff), does Uncle Sam kickback any or all of the previously collected taxes into the kitty to aid the folks that the scam artist scammed ?

It would seem that that money was ill-gotten gains and therefore part of the booty.

That seems like saying yes it was all stolen, but they forked over a nice chunk to Uncle Sam ...  Uncle Sam being the one that looks the other way as he pockets his cut.

Thinking of something along the lines of if a crackdealer has money made from selling stolen goods that you owned and then gets busted do you see any of the money that gets seized?

No 'kickback', however those who were scammed can claim the loss on their taxes, and thus get some money back...

Hadn't thought about it, but yeah, where does that money go ?

As for Madoff and his cronies, we're takin' zillions.  What made me think of it is that NY was pissin' and moanin' about the Wall Streeters not coming through these last few months with an expected amount of tax bucks.

To the tune of $3000/year?  Yeah, I'm sure that helps a lot.
