Good looking rack.
I have mentioned here before my uncertainty of using water pipe for safety pins.....at some point you WILL crash hard with a shit ton of weight on your back. I would feel safer with either real tubing (.120ish wall) or solid rod. In before Im told water pipe is fine

The rack looks pretty good, but if you're just starting out, I'd recommend Starting Strength first and then 5/3/1 To much reading
I hear about Starting Strength all the time but I can't seem to figure out just what it is without buying a book. This is America people, I don't want to read
Seriously though, I am trying to finish the bible in my spare time before I take on another book. As it is right now I have to work out at 5 AM to be able to fit it in. Can somebody give me a crash course or simple break down on SS. Off to google I go again. |

For Starting Strength see the sticky at the top of the forum. K |

If you have a Kindle or a smart phone with the Kindle app, you can get the entire book for less than $10 and skim thru it while you're sitting on the john. |

What are your hooks made out of? 4" x 1" OD Iron Pipe with (2) end caps and (1) 45 Degree Street elbow on each side What keeps them upright? oops, couple of 1" washers and tighten down the end caps and they snug up just fine Thatll work. |

Looks good to me.
I just started "starting strength" a couple weeks ago. I'm liking it. I just don't think I'm eating enough though. Not to steal your post OP, but this may help you also. Can anyone recommend me a decent bench to put in the rack for bench press? The homemade setup I'm using now is less then ideal. |

Skips meals or eat badly and your workouts will show it. OP, there are sticky's on bodybuilding.com with EVERYTHING laid out for you. It'll answer every question. |
