| Who's good out there? Buying a 600sqft home and looking for the cheapest I can find. Or I guess I should say, who is the most competitive? All input appreciated. |

Shop around and make sure you're comparing apples to apples. There isn't one correct answer on this. ETA: You have other insurance, right? Cars? Start there. Consider moving everything if the right deal presents itself. My GEICO bundle is almost 50% less than a lot of others for nearly the same coverage. |

I shop it every year or three. Every major insurance company is the "best deal" for someone. |

Just went through this myself. Here's an example of some quotes I got last month for our 2500sq.ft ranch style home built in 1958.
After a small claim last Fall, Allstate increased our annual premium from $700 to over $1100. It was time to shop around. We get a group rate through our work with MetLife. With apples-to-apples coverage the discount netted an annual premium of $350, but, we have galvanized plumbing so the deal didn't go through. Finally ended up going with Nationwide at $546 roughly half of what we would have paid if we stayed with Allstate. I will say this, the MetLife associate told me that they are one of the few companies that have guaranteed replacement cost for Homeowners coverage. A majority of the others are 125% capped as is my current coverage with Nationwide. We've been wanting to replace the old galvanized pluming anyway. I want to get that done and then renew with MetLife next go around. Best of luck! |
