If you are looking for a good horror movie to rent, try Hostel. It is about young Americans who go to Europe to party and find themselves kidnapped by thrill seekers.

Boobs? Yes!
Guns? Some.
Brutal torture? u bet cha.

And the scariest thing for me is that I could totally imagine this happening in real life.

they're actually starting on the sequel to Hostel. It's supposed to reveal more details about how the process works as far as getting people into the places to be killed, and it shows that there wasnt just one Hostel, but there's actually a chain of them all over the world...yes! i actually think theyre building one at the new development by wal-mart.

It was ok, I was more happy that homeboy at the end got his revenge, although it wasn't enough.

In all honesty though why would someone enjoy this film?  Watching innocent people be tortured to death in the worst ways humanly possible?  It was a movie to fill the fetish void that some people have for this kind of stuff, and it's pretty sickening.  I didn't feel "enlightened" at all as the directors had originally said they wanted to let people know about these places.  I didn't get that vibe at all, no message afterwards that these places exist and they need to be stopped, nothing of the sort.

I thought it was a good.  For me, the concept that places like that probably do exhist makes the story intriguing.

I thought it would show more violence.  The last 30 minutes with the kids and the revenge scenes were more graphic than the rest of the film.  I did wince when the guy tried to walk to the open door though.

Intriguing?  That's a unique way to put it.

I wanted to see it when I saw the previews on TV

I can tolerate watching violent movies. My friend described some of Hostel to me and I decided that it was probably more gruesome than i would like to see. I dont think I will be watching it

The new Texas chainsaw massacre and House of 1000 corpses was enough for me.
How does the violence in TCM and House compare to hostel?

Hostel was worse I believe, not because of more gore but because of how down-right sadistic the plot is.

Sure, a hillbilly family that kills outsiders, yeah horrible but not amazingly original,

a retarded backwoods reject who kills people and takes their faces (part of that is from a simpson's quote, I had to throw it in there), again gruesome but not sadistically original.

a small town in dirt hole former Eastern com bloc europe that has a death factory that lures in foreigners, mostly teenagers, lets wealthy business men from around the world, come and perform the most brutal torture experiments that they choose.  Much more original and much more evil, especially since you learn the entire city/town is in on it (it seems to be the main source of income for the city).

the part that got me was when the last kid, the hispanic kid is being dragged to his room to be strapped down and you see all of the doors open and the victims inside torturing people, the worst, the young female hanging by her bound hands and (it seems) is being cut into as she's squirming and screaming in pain.

gruesome stuff.

again, I believe the movie served the needs of people who have this fetish.

Can't say that I enjoyed it but it was disturbing and intriguing.  I didn't go to see it to enjoy it, I went to see it to be disturbed and it fit the bill pretty well.

My wife roundly blasted me for dragging her along, it was a bit more than she wanted.

Different strokes for different folks. Some teens I saw it with thought the movie was too slow and not graphic enough.

I don't like most horror movies, but this one I found convincing enough to scare me.

And the sequel is coming...

I posted a review of it back in January (I think it was January) when I saw it on opening day. I was slightly disappointed when I saw it the first time because I was expecting more gore. I did like the bewbies and the plot but thought it was slow to get rolling and short on brutality until the very end.

I've seen it a second time and I'm not looking forward to the second movie.
