From Faxons FB page . Friend thinks they toss it over pillows and catch it . I dont believe that. Super thin fishing line and then the blie hides it well enough to touch up in photoshop? I know people use bath tubs as white backgrounds but have never seen this .   Hive mind?

Clearly they just had someone choose invisibility over being bulletproof for this photoshoot.

it involves layers and masking.

one of the easiest is to photograph it against, say a blue background. Then tell photoshop to make blue transparent. with the background in a layer under the one with the image of the gun.

there are other ways to do it, but that is one of the easiest

Not happy with the bokeh.
They should have chosen a more peaceful background.

HINT:  you can still see the guy holding it.

That's not a photo advertising a new gun.  It's a photo advertising the new active camouflage being tested by DARPA...  It's based on technology recovered with the assistance of civilian law enforcement after a terrorist incident in New York City.

Invert selection.

Copy and paste gun as a new "layer" on desired background image.

They hired that guy from the "bulletproof or invisibility" thread.
Clearly, invisibility pays.

...or, they cropped out a picture of a rifle and made a composite with another out of focus scenery pic.

Large cryogenically frozen ceramic disc spinning at high speed underneath the rifle causes enough anti-gravity to let it briefly levitate.

Or it could be Photoshop.  But I'm going with the levitation theory.

This. Very easy. Much easier than any trick suspending it.

Layers and masking in a photo editor.
Kind of like this picture I made of my buddy out in the evening rain, overlaid on the rainbow the next morning at one of our camping outings.
