I don't watch any football, never had an interest, but I keep hearing about fantasy football and it sounds like a jock version of a role playing game.

So can someone give me a simple break down of how it works?

How do you choose your players? How do your fantasy team compete against other teams?

It's like you described.
D and D for fat guys that are to old for high school.

Are you saying D&D is not for fat guys too old for high school?  Sorry to break it to you, but...

basically everyone "Drafts" players for each position

then you get points for how well your players do that week

for me it makes watching football more enjoyable, because now i watch teams that i normally would not care about

I joined a league at work this year for the first time ever. It's kind of cool, only because it adds interest to watching games with teams I previously didn't care about.

I do not understand the freaks that research it all week. Unless you are in it for a lot of money, who cares?

I learn something new every day.

I always thought Fantasy Football was somehow related to the Lingerie League.

Exactly why I don't do it.  Once I get interested in something, my perfectionist brain takes over... then I can't do anything else on Sundays.

I would probably play if I gave a shit about football (beyond the obligatory "go pats!") since it would just be another part of the hobby to waste time on.  I don't give a shit about football though, so this 'game' seems more like work than fun.

This.

Also, you can test your opinions about who's hot and who's not and have some ammunition to take to work on Monday when you express said opinions.

This. I do it with some friends for the friendly competition.

I'm not into it, but I can see the appeal.  It's audience involvement, plain and simple.

Makes more sense than just sitting there watching the game with no mental activity...

Screw that stuff.  Here's REAL "Fantasy Football".

Dwarves v. Elves, Rats v. Humans, Minotaurs v. Mummies, you name it.
