Its about maturity, not age. I think most 12 year olds would be a little young for South Park.

That's probably about the time I started watching South Park. If your kids go to Public school, they've all ready heard 10x worse then South Park or Family Guy.

Experts agree that when children reach the age of 30 it is generally okay for them to watch such material.

The first two movies I remember watching with my dad were Terminator and Predator when I was around 4 years old.  Only time I had to cover my eyes was when Sarah Connor had her boobies out in Terminator, and I think that was a request from my mom

I think you'd be smart to let them watch South Park, these days at least with the more recent episodes. The way they cut through the bullshit that the media puts out and the majority of this nation's people believe without second thought (and then go out and vote for Obama), it'll teach your kid to think twice and not be so easily sold.

Yeah, I first saw South Park at 12.  Didn't hurt me any.

I'm 21 and there are times I don't think I am old enough to watch some of the shit shown during Adult Swim.

+1

I remember my 3rd grade teacher HAVING a south park magazine she thought no one could see under her desk. I was looking up her skirt anyways and noticed the magazine.

Maturity though, like said before, some kids are ready before, some after.

edited for grammar

Along these lines, how old to play rated "M" games?

My (just turned 12) nephew wanted "Scarface" (the game) for Christmas.

Now, I won't buy him video games at all (due to his grades), but if I would, I sure as hell wouldn't get him that one.

A 12 year old already knows ALOT more than what is allowed on TV.

Agreed on this point and the part about when they're mature enough. If they're able to differentiate between what's acceptable to view on tv and be humorous in a fictitious sense versus what's acceptable in real life, then it's fine...

It's a fine line between watching and laughing at it and condoning it.
