Me, take a cut or a scrape or a road rash or what, wash out the wound, usually with alcohol, antibiotic it, bandage it. Like the scrape I just took from probably an ammo can. All in all, it's really a minor tear, seems going overboard, but I dislike going to the Doctor eventually just in case it does go bad, so there we go. Patch it up now as oppose to chance it. _________________________________________________ ("Let me patch you up then we both can shoot."--(Medic) Trance Gemini, (w,stte), "Andromeda") |

Thank you all for the input. When I really get dedicated, such as when I am getting the pets vacinated or keeping up on my tetnus boosters (had to get another one this year), I remember that I do occassionally field biology work, occassionally do scuba work in rivers and such. But often times, it falls back more to habit. Though I think what really activated the habit about 15 years ago was a coworker saying, "Snowy, you puzzle me sometimes. You've been in the Navy, a cop, you talk about all this first aid training and yet you let something like that (opened up a side of knee in road rash) go untreated." So afterwards, a few years later, I ride my bike to power company, stop, loose all my forward momentum, balance, and fall against a steel railing that would have contacted on my left temple had not the helmet and glasses arm been there. "YOU IDIOT! THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL!"--me to myself ...... but did a check, no period of unconsciousness, no vision changes, no dizziness. So broke out the kit from the pack, swab and bandaged it, and kept on going ......... (touching the unicorn stickers on my helmet as a thank you for the good luck). Of course, then again, maybe I'm just moved by "The Terminator" ...... two fighters, hurt but bandaged, still going on with the battle. Thank you again. ______________________________________________________ (Charlie Brown has taken a line drive to the head. "Does anyone know first aid?"--Schroeder "It's not that serious.
