And have it not be a mushy gross mess when I retrieve it to cook and consume the said potato?

I can't keep a damn sack long enough to use them all before they go bad.

Is there some secret method of boiling them before you freeze them?

Cook before freezing. Boiling is cheep and works.

Potatoes, as creepy as it sounds, are alive. Freezing kills them and they turn into goo.

Cooking kills the parts that turns them to goo when they unfreeze. BSW

Turn them into mashed potatoes first.

Cutting and parboiling may work too.

Keep the sack in the garage...they will store nicely for most of the winter...

They store potatoes in big bunkers dug halfway into the ground around here...
