As I age, I am noticing a definite change in my analytical skills and ability to stay focused. I seem to struggle with math problems and concepts that were easy 10 years ago. It's pretty clear I need to do something. Short of going back to college what are some other things that I can do to help sharpen up the ol' noggin?? |

There's been a million articles on the subject but they all seem to point to either brain food like fish, peanuts, red wine, ect or doing crossword puzzles. Food and excercise. ![]() Unfortunately, the results aren't noticable or measureable like loosing weight or lowering cholesteral so you'll have to take my word. I've started eating nuts in my salads. So THAT's why I know everything about everything when I guzzle a few beers....and it seems the more I drink, the smarter I think I am! Thanks for clearing that up for me!

turn off the TV and read books. Seriously. Read atleast 2 books a month that interest you. If your a "religious" man try re-reading the bible and focus on remembering dates, names, places and such. I have found re-reading the bible has opened up many other readings for studies on history and the world. Last year I bought a college text book called "many people, many faiths." You should never stop learning. |

I read...a lot. National Review is my favorite magazine, and it is certainly a step above many of the rags on the shelf. I have recently gotten involved in BASIC accident reconstruction, which involves a lot of math. In addition, my profession and position in that profession requires that I keep abreast of current case law and technology. I keep pretty busy. |
