I've got to memorize about 30 pages worth of text for my property exam. I wish I was kidding. Any tips? |
Its the only way to do this test. Heres the format, its sort of like an outline. I. Topic - Landlord/Tenant Law, or whatever the hypo is about. II. Sources of Law - Just list a bunch of places you can look to find authority on the subject III. Issues - Write down 10 issues that came up on the text or lecture regarding landlord/tenant law. About one sentence each. IV. Rules and authority - 15 rules from the cases we studied throughout the semester, with a cite to the particular case OR the case that the case in the casebook cited to. V. Rationale - One sentence, why is this rule the way it is. Very broad. VI. Application - Each hypo has 5 questions. Here he wants us to do the analysis for each question. VII. Answers - 5 one-sentence answers for each question. "Yes, Harry has a cause of action for..." VIII. Comment - make a general comment about the hypo. "Landlords should be careful when...." Now, thats for one hypo on the exam. There are 11 hypos on this exam. I'm trying to memorize the issues and rules so all I have to do is sit down and spit them back up. We know the topics that are going to be on the exam, and the issues/rules don't have to have anything to do with the hypos, generally. |
Thats what I've been doing. Just not sure I can get this done in time. |
Test is on the 14th of May. But I have three others in the two weeks before that. And no, I don't have to memorize it word for word, but I need to be able to spit out a complete sentence. |
If this is an important class, I'd prioritize. FWIW a month is more than enough time for memory work like that.I would start with swearing off Arfcom for that month.
