[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How does the Winchester 1200 stack up

Hey, i am relatively new to the whole gun thing. I bought a used Winchester 1200 riot shotgun (police trade in i think) last year. I like the gun a lot but the think is a huge bitch to field strip. There are tiny little springs to lose and you need about 4 hands to reassemble everything. Am i dissassembling my gun too much for cleaning or is the 1200 just overly complicated? Are most pump shotguns like this to dissassemble? What do you guys do to clean your shotguns after use?

I have a 1300 pump, slick action but i dont shoot it much, so i just swab the bore and call it done. Now the ar is a whole lot of cleaning once you get started, i allow about an hour to clean my match rifle. later, W.B.

I have a 1400 but it is rather easy to strip. I guess there were some large design changes over the years.

maybe you should have chose a Remington 870? I use to own a Remington 870 riot gun and it was very simple to field strip.

My friend has both and rem 870 and the winchester riot gun(an older model). Shot and cleaned them both. Id say there pretty close to the same.
