I saw one of these today, I also saw an ACER for the same price. Does anyone have any experience with them? ETA: this is the ACER http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_Acer-Aspire-One-AOA150-1635-Netbook_266388_Business_Supplies_10051_SEARCH |

I have the Acer Aspire One 160GB and I bought it with the 6cell battery. I am extremely happy with my purchase! I do web/graphic design and photography it's great from everything from web browsing to on the road web and graphics stuff I need done asap on the whim. I bought it right before I went on a trip to California, and with the 6 cell I could watch 2 movies back to back and still had time left over.
I personally would choose the 160GB HD Acer over the 8GB SSD HP anyday. Yes, SSD computers run a little quicker for accessing, but for the price i'm not sure it's worth having a tiny HD (And that 8GB is before the OS is installed.) Let me know if you have any specific questions regarding it. |

Both models have the same 8.9" screen size and both models probably have a 3-cell battery (the acer definitely does) which will give you about 2.5 hours on a charge.
If you want to spend around $300 on an XP netbook you may wish to look at a 1st generation MSI Wind. Newegg has them for $319. It has a 10" screen and a 160GB hard drive. Spend another $50 and you can get same with a 6-cell battery. If price is the sole consideration then go with the Acer. They're supposed to be discontinuing their 8.9" Aspire One's now that they've introduced the 10" screen models so you might want to wait a bit to see if the price drops any further. Personally, I kind of like the idea of paying an extra nineteen bucks to gain another inch of screen real estate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152093 |

Get a 10 inch model with a 160 gig hard drive. I did and love it. I have the ASUS 100HA and got it for about $310. how's it perform? My current laptop is one of the earlier 2.6 ghz toshibas (A25-S207). IT works, but sucks alot of power. It's a netbook, I rather like it, but remember it is not going to be as powerful or fast as a larger laptop. I can do school work on it, its nice and portable, and I can play various old games like Fallout. |

I'm typing this on a MSI Wind U120 netbook from a hotel room.
I had the HP 1000 10" screen with a 60Gb HD and returned it for this one. It has 3 USB ports vs. 2 for the HP. Bluetooth, WiFi b,g,n, a Video Out, and a Ethernet port that the HP doesn't have. The battery life is around 4.5 hours with fairly bright screen, and the keyboard is nearly as good as the HP's. The HP harddrive is 60Gb, this is 160 Gb. The processors are all the same on these units, and performance is pretty snappy. Pricing is less for the MSI if you shop a little at places like NewEgg, Amazon, etc. More features I want, less money and a solid product. The HP is slightly smaller and has a slightly larger, better keyboard, but not as sharp and bright of a screen. |

I just got 3 new HP Mini 2140 net books at work. They have 160Gb hard drives, bluetooth, wireless, Gigabit Enet, 10" screens, and 6 cell batteries.
So far I'm pretty impressed. I upgraded them to XP pro and put all matter of software on them. So far they have done everything any normal person would need. I'm thinking of ditching my everyday laptop for one. It gets really tiring lugging a 10 pound laptop case around every where you go. |
