Somedays I hate this place-when I started coming here I had 1 AR and wanted to build  1 more. Now I have more than 10,built ones for my dad and brother, helped several friends piece theirs together, added a  suppressor, SBR, and 8 pending stamps!  Does it ever stop?

A long rang precision and an SBR is all you really need.   But there's nothing wrong with having a bunch more.

There's guns that are a lot more fun than ARs. Like MP5s. ARs are a lot of fun, but you should branch out. Buy a machine gun.

Even though I have 10 stripped lowers laying around I have no plans to do another build any time soon. Not even on the radar. I plan to upgrade the ones I have now with better optics than what I currently have.

My general excuse is that I want the kids to have their own to shoot without borrowing mine when we all go. Granted the oldest is 3 right now so it gives me time to plan and acquire. Plus I have a couple that only serve one or two purposes.

And when you do die you can literally be buried in AR's.  Literally.

That's the beauty of AR's. You can have the same firearm in the same cartridge and have totally different uses for it. 20" precision long range build, 12" up close and personal, 16" mid range rifle...and then different variations of each.

Plus...all the cartridge options are awesome.

Me?

I want an AR47 and an MK18 Mod0-ish clone. MAYBE a 5.45 if that ammo comes back cheap.

After that, I won't be buying any ARs unless I stumble on an amazing deal for a "premium" AR (KAC/LaRue/LWRCI/LMT).

ETA: I already have an AK and 2 MP5 clones. I still need a MP5SD though.

I don’t really care about full auto. I would like the options, yes… But not willing to pay car prices for the privilege for something I wouldn’t utilize much.

Had 3 at the beginning of the year and then the LaRue BuildAR started, so that was 4 and 5, then half way through the year I started a .308 build, so 6.  I had enough money left over on my 3rd Qtr gift card to buy another barrel and handguard, so now I'm starting #7 and I'm still waiting to see if ML is going to start a 2nd round of the BuildAR too

Right now, sitting at 4 complete, 2 half way complete, and 1 in infancy.  I'm hoping there's an end in sight  Speaking of sights...  Still need 4 more optics

3 round burst is okay, but full auto is where it's at. You can do a 3-round burst by letting go of the trigger. You can't mag dump a 3-round burst.

In all seriousness, you can get an M16 for ~$17k right now. AC556 for $14k. Uzi for $14k. Sten, MAC, Reising, M2 Carbine for $7k. Personally I don't care for rifle calibers on full auto, so I bought a Sten. My ARs are ~$3k a piece. I think one machine gun instead of 2-3 ARs is *WAY* more fun and your money is much better spent that way. If you keep buying semi-autos, you'll never be able to afford full-autos.

I'll say it...one's enough for me.

Sold my other one to fund my .308. THAT purchase scratched a long-serving itch.

(Can't go fucking shooting right now, recovering from my back surgery....hell, I'm not supposed to even pick my rifles up right now, they weigh "too much.")

Meh... different strokes for different folks. As far as I'm concerned semi auto shooting is about as much fun as a bolt action rifle, generally even less so for me.

5 is the closest on the poll.

After you have a pistol, maybe SBR, carbines in a length or two and a few rifles with different optics then it's time to branch out, there's lots of other rifles out there.  Before I moved I got rid of a bunch, just similar variations that sat in the safe.  Pretty much all modern AR's have no collector value.

What he said.  I could win the lottery and piss it all away on guns and ammo and still find some more I needed.   I could grab an AC-130H Spectre and still find stuff to put on it.   I just need more guns.

Though I have more than I will admit I have three go-to ARs

1. 20" with an ACOG for stuff out there.
2. 16" with an Aimpoint for day.
3. 16" with an Aimpoint, flashlight, and TNVC majik for night.

My end goal is 13 ARs total: 8x 16" (or 14.5" if SBR laws change) rifles to cover myself, a couple spares, and any future children; 2x 5.56 SBRs or AR pistols (one for HD and a trunk gun); and one each of AR-10, 22lr, and 9mm.
