| I've got a crack along the tape joint between the ceiling of my bedroom and one of the walls. It's pulled apart about an 1/8th to 3/16th of an inch. It's about 10 feet long. The house is eight years old and probably settling somewhat. What is the best way to repair? Should I wait until Spring so I won't have to run the furnace? Any help appreciated. Thanks. |
| Foundation seems fine as far as I can tell. That's not significant enough to invoke something like a HOW warranty. It's basically just a drywall problem. The wall shifted just a bit. Eight years of dealing with heat expansion from the attic in the summer to winter cold (it's 13 degrees right now) along with being heated on the inside and cold on the other side. No signs of it on any other seam in the house. |
My wife and I own accouple properties and I fix stuf like this with drywall compound. If only a crack run some compound with a troul sp? and if the tape is bubbled up use a razor knife and cut it out along the edge of the tape and up so it is all flush. Then use the drywall compound, let dry and sand smooth, reapply if needed.

There it is. remove tape, sand, apply compound, sand, paint. Simple The furnace doesn't make any differnce. All houses need time to settle. <<<<<< Contractor Hope it helps |
